A well-maintained vehicle makes your ride more pleasant and comfortable. Here are some simple and effectiveways to spruce up your car’s interior.

CLEANING THE INTERIOR

Vacuum as many surfaces as you can  reach – under all seats, the floorboards, around the foot pedals and the dashboard. Do notneglect nooks and crevices.

1. AIR CONDITIONING VENTSAND DASHBOARD CONTROLS

With a paintbrush or foam brush in one hand and a vacuum cleaner in another, vacuum dust and grime as they are loosened. This method prevents the dust from flying around the interior and landing on the vehicle seats or mats.

2. MATS

Remove rubber mats to get rid of filth like soil, mud, gravel and even food residue. Rinse with water and scrub with a stiff-bristled brush. Using some rubber or vinyl floor mat cleaning solution would help as well. Ensure that the mats are dried thoroughly before placing them in the vehicle. Otherwise, they will get mouldy.

3. STEERING WHEEL AND ARM REST

As your hands and arms are frequently in contact with the steering wheel and arm rest, keep these areas clean. Mr Ho recommends using adisinfectant to wipe these areas thoroughly. To clean a steering wheel made of  textured plastic,  spray some cleaning fluid that is suitable for plastic or vinyl onto a soft microfibercloth and wipe thoroughly. Allow the cleaning fluid to sit for a few minutes if the wheel is particularly filthy. Dry the surface with a soft cloth. For leather-covered surfaces, use a cleaning solution specifically for leather. You may want to invest in a microfibre cloth. Compared to a normal  cloth, microfibre cloths have finer fibres that catch more dirt. This makes thorough cleaning more eortless.

4. VEHICLE SEATS

Spray glass cleaning fluid on a soft cloth and wipe the vinyl seats thoroughly. Clean one area of  theseat at a time to prevent the glass cleaning fluid from dripping ontothe vehicle mats. With a toothbrush, get rid of dirt gathered at the seams. For leather seats, use a cleaning fluid specifically for leather. Consider utilising seat covers. These protect your seats and make sprucing up the interior less of a chore. Depending on the fabric, some covers can even be machine washed.

5. INTERIOR WINDOWS ANDREAR VIEW MIRROR

Clean  your  rear view mirror and vehicle windows without leavings treaks or water stains. Spritz some glass cleaner on the surfaces and wipe them with newspapers. Remove excess water with a dry cloth. Do not forget to roll the window down half way to reach the very top portion of the glass.
